Island of Rab

Rab is part of the Kvarner group of islands. The island is 21.5 kilometres long and 7.5 kilometres wide. while much of it covered in pine forests but the north western side is barren and rugged. Rab has distinct micro climate which makes it one of the sunniest places in the Adriatic whilst the geography of the island protects it from cold winds and creates a relatively mild winter climate.

Rab town provides a striking sight with its medieval town walls rising sheer from the water. Much of the historic old town was built during the Venetian rule in the period from 1409. Komrcar Park, planted in the late 19th century, contains many Mediterranean flora. Kamenjak Hill, at 400 metres, is an energetic walk and provides a stunning view across the surrounding islands.

In addition to Rab town there are several other attractive tourist destinations on the island, notably: Barbat, Banjol, Kampor, Supetarska Draga and Lopar.
