An elegant, three bedroom, three bathroom, luxury villa in the heart of the beautiful old town of Cavtat on the Dubrovnik Riviera. Air conditioning, WiFi, BBQ, gym, outdoor Jacuzzi and terraced garden. Sea views, beach 200 metres.BEDROOMS : 3SLEEPS : 6-7
This villa is a special find, tucked away a few steps from the harbour up a little alley lined with elegant small villas, overhanging with bougainvilleas and palm trees. The villa is entered through an old gate in the wall, into a paved and terraced garden. A few more steps lead to a patio with a Jacuzzi and a covered terrace with an outdoor dining table and a BBQ. Inside the villa is unique in its style, very seaside leisurely feel, old and new furniture, with bleached floors and lots of space. Open the window, and you see the sea of emerald blue.
The town of Cavtat is very special and very beautiful, just 17km east of Dubrovnik. It is a shimmering town, as Linda Cookson of the Independent has said "Cobbled streets with traditional red-roof houses climb back from the blue of the waterfront. In the daytime, the town shimmers…as it perches on the saddle of a wooded peninsula set between two bays, so you're never more than moments from the water. The sea is as still as a mirror, a deep and brilliant blue with pools of green reflected from the pine forests beyond. A wide promenade fringed with palm trees runs along the harbour front." Here you will find shops, cafes, seafront restaurants for a very idyllic holiday. The beach is 200 metres away.
A few steps lead to the entrance into the hallway and the sitting room, and then onto the kitchen/diner. The sitting room is very cosy and cool, with nice comfortable sand coloured sofa and armchairs, and an old restored settee, providing plenty of seating for six to eight persons. There is also a satellite TV/DVD and WiFi. The kitchen is very simple but contains all equipment, fridge/freezer, cooker, hob, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, all the cooking utensils and tableware. An old dining table can accommodate six to eight people. In the basement there is a small gym room.
A narrow staircase leads form the living area to the first floor, where there is a nice shower room and two lovely cool double bedrooms. One of them has a lovely view of the sea. Old wardrobes and chests of drawers are placed in the bedrooms and in the hallway, and all bed linen and towels are included.
The master bedroom and bathroom is on the second floor, with even more spectacular sea view.

Villas Irys was perfectly situated to walk to the harbour and restaurants, we were very comfortable and had a lovely week. The Jacuzzi was very necessary, but set up much too warm but was OK when we worked out how to turn it off.
Cavtat is a beautiful place and the people are wonderful.

Croatia was wonderful, I think the villa is perfectly located and the town is lovely, restaurants and service were excellent, the premium for the location was worth it. I especially enjoyed being able to walk on the long promenade and that while we had some steps it is a lovely part of town (the apartments on the hill may have better views but the climb is not so pleasant) and we had a lovely view from the patio and bedrooms. (when I was looking for villas none of the descriptions were open about whether they were on a steep hill and that the old town is much better) The villa is very nice, I didn't bother cooking - it is adequate for self-catering but very simple in terms of crockery and cooking materials. The host was very nice and friendly. The Croatians in general are very welcoming.
We didn't use the Jacuzzi - too hot! The fancy showers were ok once we worked them out but I am not sure how long they will last.
I would definitely recommend the villa and location.
