Villa Limetta

Villa Limetta

Villa Limetta is a very beautiful, luxuriously built and decorated villa which reflects the traditional look of an old Istrian farmhouse. It is located in a small village in southern Istria, tucked away on a tiny country cul-de-sac, well set back from the village road. The tranquillity and mellow appeal of this house, in combination with a large, walled, private garden and a marvellous pool will ensure that the guests have a great holiday. The house is so lovely, that just being there seems to be enough.

Many additional features of this villa are impressive. It has a large covered summer kitchen, which doubles as an outdoor living room with a stone wood fire barbecue. The villa also has a wine cellar, where guests can get wine at cost price. There is a Jacuzzi, a sauna, various attractive sunny patios and terraces, all in all – wonderful. This is definitely a villa for rest and entertainment.

ACCOMMODATION

Ground Floor

The house is reached through the garden gate and a stone path. The entrance hallway leads to a large, light en-suite double bedroom to the right, and to the left of the hallway is the sprawling living area. The floor is either old terracotta bricks or wood. The sitting room is very spacious, with wooden floors and some exposed stone walls. Large sofa and armchairs, rugs, paintings and stylish lighting make this a very pleasant room, and the views of the garden are great. Here is a satellite TV/DVD/music player. The pale country style kitchen contains a large fridge freezer with an icemaker, cooker, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, excellent plates and cutlery, and many cooking utensils.

Cellar (“Konoba”)

The cellar is built below the house and is reached by wide and easy steps leading down from the hallway. There you will find a remarkable entertainment area. The typical Istrian “konoba” is a room where in the past Istrian families kept their food and wine stores, particularly the excellent prosciutto ham. It is decorated in authentic style of Istrian cellars, old brick floor, lovely brick arch detail on the stone walls and shelves filled with excellent Croatian wines. You will be able to buy bottles of wine there at cost price, and enjoy meals there the way they did in the old times. These days Istrian villa owners build konobas as a place for special parties – just with their best friends, who enjoy good wine.

The new addition to this old style is the Jacuzzi and sauna next to the Konoba, and also another excellent bathroom.

Outside

The vast lawn garden is surrounded by a wall, and provides a lot of privacy. Around the stunning pool, 5x10m, there is a tiled sunbathing area with sunbeds, and bath towels are provided. A particular attraction is a summer kitchen, with brick floor and a superb wooden fireplace which is set up as an outdoor barbecue. It is well equipped, with an old Istrian credenza for storage, and you can cook there and “dine al-fresco” at the large wrought iron dining table.

Amenities

Grocery store, cafes and restaurant are in the nearby village of Rakalj. The neatest large town is the ancient town of Pula, 15 miles away. There you will find good beaches, shops, markets, supermarkets, bars, excellent restaurants and entertainment. It is a town of culture, with a genuine 2000 year old Roman amphitheatre, where now instead of gladiators, you can enjoy pop music concerts and open air opera alike. Roman squares and temple mix with medieval palaces and a large harbour.
