OVERVIEW

Villa Romola is an exquisitely built villa according to its owner's exacting specifications. This new stone built villa, using the Istrian building materials typical of old Istrian farmhouses, is located in a small hamlet a few kilometres out of Visnjan and around 15 kilometres from the coastal town of Porec. A striking and unique property of this villa is its indoor grandeur and spaciousness. The beauty and proportions of this vacation home suggests the old Roman nobleman's country estate, such as there were many in Istria 2000 years ago.

The house is finished to perfection inside and outside, and has all the modern facilities for a fabulous holiday. A well stocked wine cellar is open to the guests (wine charged extra), and a gym and sauna are not just good to use, but fabulously designed. The villa is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and oak woods. It is 15 minutes drive from the sea and lively coastal towns, but provides tranquillity and relaxation for the guests. It is a wonderful place all year round, as it has under floor heating. You will be in heaven if you visit in October and November for truffle festivals, wild mushroom dishes, wine making and olive picking. Or in the spring for wild asparagus picking. You are in the heart of the gourmet region of Croatia!

Accommodation

Ground floor

The wow factor of this villa is its double height sitting room tiled with top quality terracotta floor tiles. The walls are made of beautifully shaped stones or rendered and painted in a subtle wash of Mediterranean colours. The sitting room is furnished with tasteful sofas. An open fireplace of large stone slabs and thick oak wood is the best example of what was usually found in Istrian old homes. This room provides the satellite TV/DVD player and a Bose sound system. The kitchen continues with the terracotta and white scheme, and a charming herring bone pattern of terracotta bricks on the floor. It is fully equipped with Miele electrical goods, a fridge, several freezers, double oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Numerous kitchen units, dressers and kitchen cupboards in white classic style provide masses of storage. A large French door opens out onto a covered outdoor dining terrace. On the ground floor there are also two double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and television. A ground floor utility room contains a sink, a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and a steam iron.

First floor

On the first floor are two large en-suite bedrooms Each bedroom is accessed by its own staircase from the ground floor and is completely private. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath, a satellite TV and an exit to a terrace with great views of the vineyards. The second bedroom has a double bed, TV, and its own balcony with lovely sea views.

Basement

This villa has more than one wow factor, and the basement with its fabulous rain shower, a sauna and a Turkish bath with its own rest room, plus an elegant wine cellar which can serve as an additional reception room, is a stunning space.

Outside

A beautifully maintained garden gets plenty of sunshine. The large pool is heated, so it can be used in spring and autumn. There are several terraces for outdoor dining and relaxation, and they also have beautiful country views.
