Villa Stagnum

Travelling west from Dubrovnik airport you will follow a stunning coastal road and then turn through the miles of vineyards and olive plantations, the most famous vine region of Croatia known as the Peljesac Peninsula. You will reach a small quiet village, at the edge of which you will come to a solid stone villa with a beautiful façade, standing imposingly in the middle of the wild Mediterranean countryside. It is centuries old and beautifully restored and furnished. The villa is about 2 miles away from the sea and a nice beach. A courtyard in front of the villa is spacious and enclosed, and an outside stone staircase leads to the ground floor, which is raised. Several relaxing terraces provide great country views. This villa has history and it has been added to over the years, it is unique.




The villa is an old farmhouse which has retained its original features. The living space comprises of 300 square metres and is arranged on four floors. It is a great example of a Dalmatian village house of white local stone and with green shutters and wonderful interiors.


Ground floor

On the front of the villa the ground floor is raised and all of it consists of a sitting room dedicated as a music and billiards room, with a baby grand piano. Out of this room, a doorway opens out onto the front terrace.

First floor

A sitting room is tiled with Italian terracotta tiles and heavy ceiling wooden beams in keeping with the original interiors. Old wood credenzas and chests and a beautiful table and chairs plus comfortable sofas make the room very impressive. The kitchen is antique and fully equipped with a cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and a full complement of cooking utensils, plates, glassware and cutlery, all very tasteful. A wonderful dining area with a large table can sit 14 people. Next door is another old room, with exposed stone walls, beams and rustic tiles, and a huge old open fireplace which is functioning and suitable for cooking and barbecuing indoors. The fireplace room has a doorway to an enclosed terrace. A washroom with a washing machine is next to the kitchen. On this floor there is also one bedroom with and extra large double bed and an en-suite shower room. The bedroom is extremely attractive as it has old exposed stone walls and a vaulted ceiling, which makes it stylish and old fashioned at the same time. Beds are antique and provided with excellent mattresses and old bed linen. Plenty of towels are provided.

Second floor

Three double en-suite bedrooms are all furnished with antique beds and wardrobes, and lovely bed linen and towels. Two of the bedrooms have extra large double beds, and the third one has twin beds. All have lovely countryside views.

Third floor/attic

An outside staircase leads to the attic which has a bedroom with 2-4 beds and its own roof terrace. This bedroom uses one of the ground floor bathrooms.


OUTSIDE

The villa has a courtyard and three terraces. Each of the terraces has wrought iron or wicker chairs and cushioned settees and is a wonderful place to relax. A hundred yards away is a vineyard with a cellar that sells excellent wine on site.

Parking

There is parking in the grounds of the villa. Car is essential.

The villa is 2.5km from a lovely pebbly beach with turquoise sea, and several other equally fantastic beaches are also close.

Amenities

Nearest shops, supermarkets, fish market, restaurants, doctor, chemist and bank are in the nearby town of Trpanj.




BOATING
