The old stone cottage was built 150 years ago to be the focus of vineyards an olive groves of the family and recently it has been restored and renovated into a stunning villa full of old charm and character. It is located in a small hillside village just 10 mins drive from some of the best beaches in Croatia, around the town of Makarska, which provides shopping, nightlife and water sports. The villa has been exquisitely restored, with great attention to keeping or replacing Renaissance architectural elements – such as solid stone architraves, carved balcony supports, and keeping original old Mediterranean rood tiles – a difficult find these days. The villa has been furnished with great taste and comfort. It is perfect for combining a quiet life in fabulous countryside, with the busy seaside life, restaurants, cafes, shopping and cultural experience of Split town with its antiquities.

The villa has 350 square metres of living space, open plan sitting room, kitchen/diner, and a cloakroom/WC on the ground floor. Wood flooring covers all the downstairs and upstairs rooms. A lovely modern white kitchen is reminiscent of a country kitchen and is equipped with a cooker, hob, wood burner, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and a toaster, cooking utensils and lovely plates, glassware and cutlery. The dining table is placed onto a beautiful Turkish rug and can sit up to 10-12 people. This living area combination appears in the villa three times, so that there are in fact three sitting/dining areas and kitchens. From many points in the living areas doors open out onto a nice and sheltered outdoor terrace. The sitting rooms have sofas and chairs for comfort and relaxation, and a satellite TV/DVD and a music player. Down in a basement is a wine cellar with a piano!

Four double bedrooms have beautiful sea views or pool and partial sea views. The master bedroom with a large double bed opens out onto the typical Dalmatian Juliet balcony with panoramic sea views. The bedrooms have old wood beamed ceilings and good bed linen with plenty of storage and towels provided. One of the bedroom has twin beds and the bedrooms share two bathrooms, which are newly refurbished.

OUTSIDE

The villa has a large garden which is partially a cobbled courtyard, but mostly lawns and green terraces supported by stone walls – Dalmatia as it has always been. In one part of the garden is an 8m x 3.5m swimming pool, with sun loungers and umbrellas provided and a beautiful view. The garden is a delight – it contains palm trees, fig trees, lemon and orange trees, Mediterranean herbs and wonderful terracotta and stone pots of all descriptions, providing summer colour against the blue expanse of the sea. There are two large terraces for dining alfresco, one behind the villa in a courtyard, and the other in the front garden, looking at the sea. Beautiful villa.

All prices are in euro (EUR) and for the whole villa based on Saturday to Saturday bookings. Tourist tax is included. A refundable damage deposit of €300 (EUR) is payable on arrival.
