Villa Lozna
Postira, Island of Brac

Villa with pool; Fully air-conditioned;
Accommodation for eight people in four bedrooms;
200 metres from the sea; uninterrupted views over the Adriatic

LOCATION
Villa Lozna Villa Lozna can accommodate eight people in 4 bedrooms is located in the delightful fishing village of Postira on the Dalmatian island of Brac. Brac is a beautiful unspoilt island very close to the mainland and the fascinating city of Split. The island’s coastline is studded with villages built from the local white stone (a wing of the White House in Washington is built from the same stone). Inland, there are some charming old villages nestling between olive groves and vineyards. Sandy and pebbly beaches are everywhere and the spectacular beach in the little town of Bol is deemed to be one of the most beautiful in the world.

The island is easily accessible by ferry from Split, which goes round the clock during the summer season, and several times a day during the rest of the year. Low cost airlines (Easyjet and Wizzair), British Airways and Croatia Airlines fly directly to Split. Split itself is full of antiquities, markets, galleries, restaurants, clubs and is famous for the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. It is well worth a visit. Superb local fresh fish and locally produced meat and wine are memorable and watersports are available. The climate is mild all year round, with over 300 days of sunshine. The sea is warm, clear and unpolluted, and everyone swims in it. This is an ideal holiday destinations for families, teenagers and adults.

LOCAL FACILITIES
Postira village centre is a few minutes drive or 20 minutes walk. The village is a typical and charming fishing village with narrow streets and old stone houses around a harbour and beach. The village has supermarkets, bakery, butchers and several restaurants and cafes. Fresh fish can be bought directly from local fishermen.
The nearby farming village of Dol (3 kilometres inland) has several interesting restaurants that are well known for their cuisine based on local produce.

BEACHES
There is beautiful shingle beach immediately below the villa. It is ideal for children and there is a small café beside the beach. There are many other beaches around the coast of Brac that are worth a visit but the most notable is the famous Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) at Bol.

THE SURROUNDING AREA
Things to do and places to visit

ACTIVITIES ON BRAC
Hiring a small motor boat for around 6 people costs £ 40 per day. This would be nice for motoring along the coast and swimming in private bays and beaches.

Diving is increasingly popular and there are several possibilities for diving excursions.
Paintball is available on Vidova Gora, the highest mountain on all of the Croatian islands with fantastic views, walks, and a restaurant in the summer.

Rafting is a popular activity as well with excursions organized from Supetar.

There are various other excursions around the island and across to the mainland, or on other islands, but they differ every year. In particular a visit to the town of Bol and its famous beach is recommended.

PLACES TO VISIT
There are many beautiful towns and villages on the island that are well worth visiting while on holiday on Brac.

SPLITSKA
Situated around a delightful harbour, the town of Splitska, just a short drive up the coast from Postira, is one of the most attractive communities on the island.

PUCISCA
Situated around a sheltered harbour, has a character defined by its fine stone buildings set in terraces on the steep hillside. Here young stone masons are trained and can be seen practising their skills at The School of Stone Masons on the harbour front.

MILNA
Situated in a deep bay at the western end of the island is a favourite destination for yachtsmen.In the summer months the harbour is filled with yachts moored in the marina and along the town quay providing plenty of custom for the quayside cafes and restaurants

BOL
On the southern side of the island has examples of 15th and 17th century architecture but is best known for its famous beach, Zlatni Rat, a shingle spit stretching out over 600 metres into the sea.

PLACES TO VISIT ON THE MAINLAND
It will be worth taking some time out to visit Split and Trogir on the mainland.

SPLIT
Croatia’s second city. A bustling port from which to take ferries to the Croatian islands, Split is famous for its football club, “Hajduk” and for the wonderful Diocletian’s Palace, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Palace, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the end of the third century AD, forms the core of the old town and has been adapted and remodelled throughout the ages so that it displays a breathtaking mix of architecture from the Roman through to the later Venetian period.

A few kilometres up the coast is the smaller but perfectly formed medieval town of Trogir which was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997 with the following justification:

“Trogir is an excellent example of a medieval town built on and conforming with the layout of a Hellenistic and Roman city that has conserved its urban fabric to an exceptional degree and with the minimum of modern interventions, in which the trajectory of social and cultural development is clearly visible in every aspect of the townscape."

Trogir is also a thriving tourist centre with numerous restaurants, bars and cafes and a lively night life. The sheltered harbour and marina provides a haven for yachts and fishing boats whose presence adds to the atmosphere of the town.
