View from the West (click to enlarge)
This Villa is situated on the beautiful Island of Brac, on the higher slopes of the village of Lozisca and has a breathtaking sea view. Lozisca is on the west side of the island with a south-west view to the sea. With approximately 150 residents, the village is an untouched enclave of old Mediterranean culture and classified as a national heritage site. Residents are mostly farmers and fishermen and still working in traditional ways. All houses in the village are made of stone and in the village centre is a beautiful church built in the early 19th century in the neo-Romanesque style.

Village of Lozisca (click to enlarge)
Villa Monica itself has been recently renovated, retaining the original stonework, creating the traditional Mediterranean style, as well as modern luxury and comfort. The Villa is situated in a plot of approximately 1000 square meters and is 1.8km from the coast, and 5km from the attractive harbour town of Milna. Brac is a beautiful unspoilt island close to the mainland and the fascinating city of Split. The island’s coastline is studded with villages built from the local white stone (a wing of the White House in Washington is built from the same stone). Inland, there are some charming old villages nestling between olive groves and vineyards. Sandy and pebbly beaches are everywhere and the spectacular beach in the little town of Bol is deemed to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
The island is easily accessible by ferry from Split, which goes round the clock during the summer season, and several times a day during the rest of the year. Low cost airlines (Easyjet, Flybe, German Wings and Scanjet), British Airways and Croatia Airlines fly directly to Split. Split itself is full of antiquities, markets, galleries, restaurants and clubs and is famous for the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Split has been designated a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. It is well worth a visit.
Superb local fresh fish and locally produced meat and wine are memorable and watersports are available. The climate is mild all year round, with over 300 days of sunshine. The sea is warm, clear and unpolluted, and everyone swims in it. This is an ideal holiday destinations for families, teenagers and adults.

THE SURROUNDING AREA Things to do and places to visit
Islands: Visit the islands of Solta, Hvar and Vis either by direct link from Brac or via Split.
Restaurants: There is a choice of restaurants in nearby Milna.
Beaches: Close to the Villa there are beaches in the towns of Milna (5km) and the village of Bobovisca (2km). There are numerous beaches around the island including the famous Golden Horn (Zlatni Rat) beach at Bol.
ACTIVITIES ON BRAC
Diving is increasingly popular and there are several possibilities for diving excursions. Paintball is available on Vidova Gora, the highest mountain on all of the Croatian islands with fantastic views, walks, and a restaurant in the summer.
Rafting is a popular activity as well with excursions to the mainland organized from Supetar.
There are various other excursions around the island and across to the mainland, or on other islands. In particular a visit to the town of Bol and its famous beach is recommended.
PLACES TO VISIT
There are many beautiful towns and villages on the island that are well worth visiting while on holiday on Brac.
MILNA
Just 5 kilometres from Villa Monica, Milna is situated in a deep bay and is a favourite destination for yachtsmen. In the summer months the harbour is filled with yachts moored in the marina and along the town quay providing plenty of custom for the quayside cafes and restaurants.
SPLITSKA
Situated around a delightful harbour, the town of Splitska, is one of the most attractive communities on the island.
PUCISCA
Situated around a sheltered harbour, has a character defined by its fine stone buildings set in terraces on the steep hillside. Here young stone masons are trained and can be seen practising their skills at The School of Stone Masons on the harbour front.
BOL
On the southern side of the island has examples of 15th and 17th century architecture but is best known for its famous beach, Zlatni Rat (Golden horn), a shingle spit stretching out over 600 metres into the sea.

SPLIT
On the mainland and easily reached from Brac is Split, Croatia’s second city and a bustling port from which to take ferries to the Croatian islands. Split is famous for the wonderful Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The Palace, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the end of the third century AD, forms the core of the old town and has been adapted and remodeled throughout the ages so that it displays a breathtaking mix of architecture from the Roman through to the later Venetian period. A few kilometres up the coast is the smaller but perfectly formed medieval town of Trogir which was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997.
