OVERVIEW

This is a typical Dalmatian country villa located in the Lumbarda region on Korcula island. It is built from white stone and with a red tiled roof, white shutters and spacious outdoor terraces for the enjoyment of sunny days and views of the sea. A sandy beach is just in front of the house. A couple of steps from the village road lead to a wrought iron gate into the front garden, planted with palm trees and Mediterranean flowers. The villa is spacious and very comfortable, with white floor tiles and white walls throughout in contrast to the bright blue sea which is visible from the inside of the house. It is comfortably furnished, close to the shops, restaurants, and the beach, with its own pool, a prefect summer holiday home.

Villa Danni - Lumbarda

Accommodation

The villa comprises 250 square metres of indoor space and has three separate apartments. Two of them have separate external entrances and one of them stretches over two floors.

Ground floor

The ground floor comprises two kitchens, two dining rooms, two sitting rooms, a double bedroom, one shower room and one bathroom with a bath tub. The open plan living space is entered through a double door from the garden terrace. The cool white colour of the rooms is softened with honey coloured wood kitchen and dining room table, and brightened by red curtains and stripy cushions of a large sofa and chairs. This area contains a satellite TV/DVD player. The quality kitchen is made of wood and provided with all modern appliances and utensils - dishwasher, cooker, fridge freezer, microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster, cooking utensils, glassware, plates and cutlery.

The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and a white modern bathroom with a bath tub and a washing machine. There is also a hydro-massage shower room. The bedroom's large double doors allow a perfect sea views and open out directly onto the terrace. The main section of the villa extends into a substantial extra wing, with its own kitchen/diner and a sitting area plus a separate terrace on the ground floor. Through the open door you again get wonderful views of the garden and the sea, and inside, a cream sofa and dark dining table are arranged next to a line of white kitchen units, four ring hob and oven, sink, and a small fridge/freezer.

First floor

From the downstairs hallway a wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where there are five double bedrooms, each with a double bed, four shower rooms and a kitchen/living area. All the bedrooms have a door to a terrace which faces the sea. The bedrooms have wood parquet flooring and each has a simple colour scheme such as cream and blue, honey coloured, red and white or blue stripes. The shower rooms are white and cream, with white tiles and smart bathroom furniture. There are three air-conditioning units, which together with the thick walls of the house keep the rooms cool. Plenty of bath towels and all bed linen are provided. Guests should bring their own beach towels as these are not provided.

Outside

The villa is surrounded by a lovely garden, a shaded terrace and a pool with sea views. The garden is planted with palm trees, purple bougainvilleas, geraniums, bay trees, sea grasses and many other Mediterranean plants. The 24 square metre swimming pool (1.5m deep) faces the sea and is surrounded by a sunbathing terrace with six sun loungers and chairs, mosaic table and chairs and fabulous views of the sea from all corners. There is also a whirlpool hot tub outside. The terraces add greatly to this attractive garden. On the ground floor there is a covered terrace with a stone dining table and a wooden table with benches. On the first floor there is a pretty balcony with stone balustrade along the whole length of the house, superb sea views, and a full set of garden furniture in front of the bedrooms. The villa has parking spaces for three cars. There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops all in walking distance from the villa.

Reviews

Villa Danni offered spacious accommodation

Villa Danni offered spacious accommodation for our group of 9 people (2 families).  The main kitchen was well equipped and maintained to a high standard.  The outdoor area with pool was a real asset and the terrace with barbecue were lovely for leisurely lunches and evening meals.

About location:

The villa is located in a perfect setting with similar properties nearby.  The wrap around outdoor space with gardens provided privacy.  A short stroll downhill brought us to the first of many restaurants/ beach bars.  Water sports, food stores, local ferries and swimming platforms were all within 5-10 minutes walk.  The drive to beautiful Korcula town took around 15 minutes.  With a vinyard on the road just behind the villa - what more could we want??!

About Croatian Villa Holidays:

Staff were always efficient and personable.  Requests were responded to promptly.  The local knowledge provided was much appreciated.

Villa was excellent ...
Villa was excellent, great for mixed groups or large families as it was split into separate areas with own balconies and spectacular views. Close to restaurants, bars, beaches as described. Supermarket just down the road. Well equipped villa, can't fault it. Lovely, friendly owner, as were the local Croatian people. Really enjoyed our holiday.

About location:

Enjoyed being able to walk everywhere, loved water taxi to Korcula town.

We had fabulous time. Your Croatian manager Daniela was great, meeting us and checking how we're doing.
Villa location is also great, beautiful views and close to the beaches and restaurants. Lumbarda is a very quiet place, with limited options, but there is one amazing restaurant we found - Konoba Fjaka, with fantastic local food and great service. Highly recommended.. There is only one thing I need to mention and that is a lack of air conditioning on the upper floor of the older part of the villa. These 3 bedrooms were hot at night. With aircon downstairs in the living room and also in the newer part of the villa both downstairs and upstairs it is a shame that the bedrooms in the older part were not included. then you should have put it also there. It was 40degC outdoor most of the week. That aircon would have made it perfect!
Overall we really enjoyed the villa, both adults and kids!

Korcula Island

Korcula island is midway between Split and Dubrovnik and can be reached from either airport although travelling via Dubrovnik offers greater flexibility due to frequency of ferry crossings.

If you fly to Split there will be several options open to you. All ferry departures are from Split ferry port (25 minutes from the airport but allow longer in busy periods). The only car ferry crossing is with Jadrolinja to Vela Luka, the town at the west end of the island of Korcula. The crossing takes two hours 45 minutes and in peak season there are two departures a day, mid-morning and late afternoon.  The cost for a car and a familyu of four with children over 12 years will be around €95 ech way. Jadrolinja also offers a daily fast catamaran service to Vela Luka for foot passengers that departs at 15.00 every day with a crossing time (via Hvar) of 2 hours 20 minutes. A ticket on the fast catamaran will be around €8 per head each way. Check timetables and prices on the Jadrolinija website or on the Korcula Info website. If there are severe storms check for delays or cancellations.

Croatian Villa Holidays can arrange car hire from Split airport or for pick up on Korcula island if you arrive by passenger ferry.

From Split the Kapetan Luka ferry company provide a daily catamaran foot passenger service departing Split each morning at 10.00am (but check times on the website) and arriving Korcula Town at the east end of the island, stopping at Hvar en-route, at 12.30pm. Kapetan Luka also provide catamaran foot passenger services  departing Split every day in the late afternoon (line 9608) and stopping at Prigradica (2 hours from Split) on the north coast of Korcula island before continuing to Korcula Town (two hours 45 minutes from Split) and a daily service departing early morning from Split and arriving in Korcula town after 2 hours and 50 minutes with stops on Brac island and at Makarska on the mainland along the way.

If you choose to drive from Split to Korcula you can drive down the coast towards Dubrovnik before taking the car ferry crossing from Ploce over to Trpanj on the Peljesac peninsula, followed by a short drive across the peninsula to Orebic from where you can take the car ferry over to Korcula (Domnice). See below for details. The crossing from Ploce is 60 minutes and there are seven crossings a day in peak season. Unless the ferry times work well for you it may be quicker to drive further down the mainland coast and then turn off to drive up the length of the Peljesac peninsula to Orebic. Either way the journey from Split airport to Orebic will take over three hours.

Flying to Dubrovnik Airport offers the greatest flexibility and is probably the best solution if you are staying near Korcula town at the east end of the island. From Dubrovnik airport it is a two hour scenic drive up the coast and along the length of the Peljesac peninsula to Orebic from where there is a 15 minute ferry crossing; either by foot passenger only ferry which docks right at the entrance to Korcula old town, or by car ferry which docks at Domnice  which is 5 minutes drive from Korcula town. The car ferry runs every 60 to 90 minutes in the summer season with the first crossing at 05.30am and the last at around midnight. The foot passenger ferry runs non stop from 9am to 5.30pm during the summer.

There is foot passenger only fast catamaran ferry that runs daily from Dubrovnik to Korcula town.  The service is provided by Kapetan Luka with departure from departure Dubrovnik (Port of Gruz). One route is via Pomena on Mljet and the other via Sobra on Mljet. They both depart at either 16.00 or 16.30 depending on the season. Journey time is just under two hours and the cost of a ticket around €19.

We can quote for car hire from Dubrovnik centre or airport or for pick up in Korcula town.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 25 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split although you should allow longer in mid summer.

Dubrovnik Airport

Dubrovnik Airport is located near the town of Cavtat 19km to the south of Dubrovnik. There are direct flights to Dubrovnik from most European countries and from Philadelphia in the USA.

There are bus and taxi services into Dubrovnik centre. A taxi transfer can be expected to cost around 35 to 40 euro one way depending on the time of day and the season and a minibus around 50-60 euros.   A shuttle bus service from the airport to Dubrovnik is 7.5 euro per person each way.

Croatian Villa Holidays can arrange taxi transfers directly to your villa.
