This lovely old stone villa stands amongst olive and lemon trees, and is surrounded by fresh scented pine woods. It is only 10 metres away from the sea and has great sea views. The villa has four levels. The top floor is not rented, and only lived in for one month of the year. This floor has a completely separate entrance and has no contact with the rest of the villa comprising the ground floor, first floor and a third level another half a floor up. The entrance to the villa is through a white paved courtyard and under a vine pergola. A short path takes you directly to the clear sea, where you can swim.

Accommodation

Ground floor

The ground floor consists of a kitchen, sitting room connected to the dining area and a utility room with a WC and a shower. The white floor tiles cover the dining room and the kitchen floor, and the sitting area is one step higher, and is covered with terracotta floor tiles. The walls of the sitting room, in contrast to the plain white kitchen and dining room, are of exposed brick painted creamy white. Country oak furniture is in the sitting/dining room, and a satellite TV/DVD and a music player. The white kitchen is fully equipped with gas/electric cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster and an iron. In the living room there are two sofas which fold out to form two single beds (or small doubles for childern). First floor (upper and lower levels) The first floor bedroom suites are all accessed independently from an external staircase at the side of the building. Two suites have a bedroom with a double and a single bed, a kitchenette and a shower room. The third suite is larger and has two bedrooms. One of these has a double and a single bed and the other has a double sofa-bed. This suite also has a kitchenette and a shower room. The second bedroom can only be entered by passing through the first bedroom. In total eight people can sleep comfortably, and additional single beds or sofa beds provide sleeping space for up to twelve or thirteen people.

Outside

Terraces Along the whole front of the house at the garden level is a long terrace provided with tables and 12 chairs. Part of the terrace is covered with vine and provides good shade. Between the terrace and the pool is a barbecue. A particularly charming feature of this villa is the little path below the house which goes directly to the beach with crystal clear sea. You can walk out in your swim suits and be swimming within a minute. Pool The 6m x 4m pool is built in an infinity style and from it you just look into the sea. It is on one of the terraces to one side of the villa, and pool sunbeds are provided. Garden Garden is on several levels, partially paved with the local stone and partially planted with fig, lemon and olive trees, grape vines, and many Mediterranean bushes and flowers such as lavender, bougainvillea, viburnum, hydrangea, geraniums. Through the pine trees you can see vast stretches of the blue Adriatic, just below the house.

Korcula Town
Korcula Town, considered to be the birth place of Marco Polo, is a beautifully preserved mediaeval town dating from the 13th Century. The town is fortified and positioned on a small elevated peninsula providing a commanding position over the strait between the island and the mainland. Today Korcula's narrow alleyways and town squares provide the setting for bars, restaurants, shops and galleries. There are many excellent restaurants and classy boutique hotels and a cocktail bar in one of the circular towers that form a part of the ancient fortifications. One of the most picturesque and important historic town in Croatia. Well worth a day trip.
Lumbarda
is a small, picturesque fishing village of about 1000 inhabitants, located on the eastern Korcula a short distance from Korcula town. Lumbarda, a village of pretty cottages and villas, sandy beaches, vineyards and olive groves, a sheltered harbour and small marina, restaurants, shops and cafes. Just out of town but still within walking distance is Plaza Prizina (Prizina beach) a gorgeous sandy beach in a wide bay. There are beach bars and a bistro on the beach. With an abundance of sandy beaches Lumbarda is a great location for families with young children. Lumbarda is a very relaxing and peaceful place, but there are plenty of shops, coffee bars and 14 restaurants, something for everyone's taste. Fishing is famous, and fresh fish and shellfish first class, prepared simply, the local way. The notable and strictly locally made white wine is called Grk and it is very delicious.

Buses and ferries: Buses from Lumbarda to the town of Korcula go regularly. From the mainland town of Orebic it is just a 15 minute ferry ride to the harbour right below the walls of Korcula town. The car ferry docks further up the coats between Korcula and Lumbarda. A day trip to the fabulous Dubrovnik is possible. A two hour drive once you are on the mainland. Or spend a relaxing day visiting the fantastic wineries and beaches on the mainland Peljesac peninsula.

Island of Korcula

The quickest route to Korcula is to fly to Split and from Split ferry port cross to Vela Luka, the town on the west end of the island of Korcula. Travellers should however note that there is generally only two or three crossings per day to Vela Luka and the timing may not fit with arrival times of flights. There is a car ferry and a faster passenger ferry. Timetables and prices for ferries from Split to Vela Luka can be found on the Jadrolinija website or on the Korcula Info website.

If the Vela Luka crossing does not work, travellers should consider flying to Dubrovnik Airport and driving to Orebic on the Peljesac peninsula and from there taking the short car ferry crossing (20 minutes) to the town of Korcula. We can quote for car hie from Split or Dubrovnik Airport and from local providers in Vela Luka on Korcula.
