This is a beautiful Dalmatian villa a few kilometres from Korcula town, comprising of 150 square metres of living space and built in the traditional style of a Korcula fishermen's cottage. All materials are natural local stone and wood and quality tiles. Doors, windows and shutters are beautifully crafted and hand made in wood. The villa has stunning views of the sea and yacht masts swaying in the summer breeze. It is just a short stroll to a sandy beach only 80 metres away from the house.

The villa is in the old part of the village, studded with cute village homes surrounded by gardens. It is a quiet area, with very little passing traffic, since there is no through road. Inside it is tastefully furnished and decorated, with nice details that suggest that you are unmistakably close to the sea. With plenty of mod cons and showers, verandas for lazy drinks and watching the world (boats) float by, this villa in a beautiful and quiet location is fit for a great vacation. Although it does not have a pool, three gorgeous sandy beaches and crystal clear sea are just a short walk away.

Very well equipped, brilliant terrace/view.
Very well equipped, brilliant terrace/view.
Lars, the owner is very nice and helpful.

About location:

The house was perfectly located only a 3min walk from the sandy! beach in Lumbarda. There was an excellent
restaurant (Feral) right by the beach and also a less expensive pizzeria with good food. Central Lumbarda was a ten
min walk and has a couple of nice restaurants and everthing you might want to do for hire (jetski, kayaks, boats) and
a small water park for kids.

Villa Lara exceeded our expectations.
Villa Lara exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful villa, furnished in extremely good taste, and very well equipped. The photographs really don't do it justice! It was an absolute delight to stay in - we would love to return! The owners were on hand for any problems we had, and were very friendly and accommodating.

About location:

Perfect location; a lovely sandy beach and two extremely good restaurants and pizzerias just a few minutes walk from the villa. The village was only about a five minute walk away with more restaurants, including the owners' which we would recommend! The supermarket is an easy 10 min walk away (approx.) No need to get in the car if you don't want to. Korcula town is only a very short drive away.

What a Fantastic House! This review is based on our family of seven- 2 adults and 5 children (ages 10 to 3yrs) House is located next to the owners who vacation for the summer in Lumbarda. They were fantastic family. Accommodating to our needs, friendly and helpful. House is equipped with everything - 2 baths (1 shower, 1 tub/ shower), 3 bedrooms ( 2 with doubles and 1 with 2 singles) plus a loft (double). House is all tile on the main floor and wood up top. Top and bottom air conditioning units, ceiling fans. Wi-Fi and the all important beach toys! Outside shower to clean off from a long day at the beach. Personal car park in front of the house, off the road (we had a minivan and fit perfectly) Probably the best part is the patio which has a gorgeous view of the opposite peninsula (town of Orebic) we ate every meal outside! (Along with the late night relaxing glasses of wine) house is a 2 min walk from a small sandy beach and about 10 min walk, around a relaxing paved path along the coast, to a bigger sandy beach, which is shallow enough for 3 yr olds to walk out about 10 meters without being under water. This house is in the town of Lumbarda which was perfect. A few min walk to the grocery store and small harbor which has pizzerias, souvenir shops and cafes. What is also interesting is that the town of Lumbarda has a different weather pattern than in Korcula. When it was cloudy/raining in Korcula, it was sunny in Lumbarda and at the beaches. We went to the beach 5 out of the 6 days there! We were treated to fresh figs right off the fig tree next to the patio - fabulous. Finally, the owners own Maksimilijan Gardens restaurant in Korcula which was a fantastic dinner experience for our family. Another gorgeous sunset! This house is highly recommended for anyone wanting a relaxing vacation in a Croatian Island! Thank you to the owners for a fantastic time!

Korcula Town
Korcula Town, considered to be the birth place of Marco Polo, is a beautifully preserved mediaeval town dating from the 13th Century. The town is fortified and positioned on a small elevated peninsula providing a commanding position over the strait between the island and the mainland. Today Korcula's narrow alleyways and town squares provide the setting for bars, restaurants, shops and galleries. There are many excellent restaurants and classy boutique hotels and a cocktail bar in one of the circular towers that form a part of the ancient fortifications. One of the most picturesque and important historic town in Croatia. Well worth a day trip.
Lumbarda
is a small, picturesque fishing village of about 1000 inhabitants, located on the eastern Korcula a short distance from Korcula town. Lumbarda, a village of pretty cottages and villas, sandy beaches, vineyards and olive groves, a sheltered harbour and small marina, restaurants, shops and cafes. Just out of town but still within walking distance is Plaza Prizina (Prizina beach) a gorgeous sandy beach in a wide bay. There are beach bars and a bistro on the beach. With an abundance of sandy beaches Lumbarda is a great location for families with young children. Lumbarda is a very relaxing and peaceful place, but there are plenty of shops, coffee bars and 14 restaurants, something for everyone's taste. Fishing is famous, and fresh fish and shellfish first class, prepared simply, the local way. The notable and strictly locally made white wine is called Grk and it is very delicious.

Buses and ferries: Buses from Lumbarda to the town of Korcula go regularly. From the mainland town of Orebic it is just a 15 minute ferry ride to the harbour right below the walls of Korcula town. The car ferry docks further up the coats between Korcula and Lumbarda. A day trip to the fabulous Dubrovnik is possible. A two hour drive once you are on the mainland. Or spend a relaxing day visiting the fantastic wineries and beaches on the mainland Peljesac peninsula.

Island of Korcula

The quickest route to Korcula is to fly to Split and from Split ferry port cross to Vela Luka, the town on the west end of the island of Korcula. There is a car ferry and a faster passenger ferry. Timetables and prices for ferries from Split to Vela Luka can be found on the Jadrolinija website or on the Korcula Info website.

If the Vela Luka crossing does not work, travellers should consider flying to Dubrovnik Airport and driving to Orebic on the Peljesac peninsula and from there taking the short car ferry crossing (20 minutes) to the town of Korcula. We can quote for car hie from Split or Dubrovnik Airport and from local providers in Vela Luka on Korcula.
