Villa Orpheus - Orebic

Ground floor

A modern and stylish sitting room has dark granite floor tiles, a yellow sofa which can be used as a double bed, yellow armchairs and simple white furniture, with cool white walls. This room has a satellite TV/DVD audio system. From the sitting room an open staircase leads upstairs. A fully equipped kitchen with dark granite tiles, sleek white modern furniture, electric cooker, fridge freezer with an ice maker, dishwasher, microwave oven, kettle and a coffee maker, as well as a washing machine and iron. A large wooden table accommodates eight to ten people and the dining area opens out onto a big sunny terrace and a garden. There is also one ground floor bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with a hydro-massage bath. There is an air conditioning unit in the hallway.

First floor

On the first floor there are three bedrooms, one of which has a double bed. A south facing bedroom, with twin beds, opens out onto a fantastic 15 square metre terrace with outdoor furniture and great sea views. In addition, there is another twin bedroom. On a landing there is a "quiet area" with a desk and an air conditioning unit. The first floor bedrooms share a spacious modern shower room. Bed linen in all the bedrooms is bright, light and in blue, green and white colours, fitting the Adriatic outside.

On the ground level there is a spacious terrace that goes all around the house. Right in front of the villa is a 6m x 4m swimming pool with a sunbathing area, sun loungers and umbrellas. Night lights on the patio create an amazing effect in warm summer nights. In this section there is also a barbecue and a large outdoor dining table and chairs. Behind the villa is an outside shower. The garden has wonderful old palm trees and Mediterranean herbs, and a parking area for three cars.

The villa was spacious and clean...
The villa was spacious and clean with good storage in each room for clothes and bags. The beds were very comfortable and the cot my
son had, although it was a travel cot, had a proper mattress with it so it was also very comfortable. The owners kindly fitted a stair gate as we had a young child as well. Kitchen had all you would need to make basic meals and a large fridge freezer. The outside pool and eating area was really comfortable and big and was where we spent most of our time when we were home.

About location:

Location was great very close to the beach and short walk along the sea front to some absolutely amazing restaurants.

Villa Orpheus in Orebic was just perfect for the six of us travelling. The owner was the best ever landlord! If we go back to Orebic, which we for sure will do, it is going to be Villa Orpheus again

Orebic - think grand captain's houses with tropical plants along the sea promenade, long pebbly/sandy beach, romance and fun. That is how we would sum up this wonderful and friendly but elegant small town on the south of the Peljesac peninsula, looking across to the island of Korcula. A great, centuries long maritime tradition has brought prosperity to Orebic, and is still remembered in the town's Maritime Museum. We would recommend Orebic to anyone, but it is especially suitable for families looking for an interesting but safe place to rest and play. The small town with seven fountains abounds with cafes and restaurants, easy to get to beaches, some of which have children's play areas. A car is not essential as everything is within walking distance. You will be spoilt for a choice of day trips - visit Dubrovnik, hop over to Mljet island and Korcula (15 minute ferry ride) for a magical experience, explore small pearly villages on the Peljesac peninsula, visit great wineries- one of them is in Orebic, the Korta Katarina which also has a good restaurant. All over Peljesac there are wineries producing one or other version of the red wine from the Plavac mali grape (Dingac, Postup, Plavac), white Posip and some rosé wines. It is home to some lovely beaches, the main one in Orebic is of fine pebbles and sand (Trstenica beach) but there are quite a few sandy ones. Serious windsurfing, kitesurfing, and paragliding is in nearby Viganj. Other activities are diving among shipwrecks, hiking cycling, walking up the mountain to the 15th century Franciscan monastery with great views.

Once a week from June to September the town offers wine and food tasting and there are performances of traditional Klapa music known as "The sounds of Dalmatia". There are music workshops in the local church. In July there is a shipbuilding workshop for children on the promenade in the town. If you are there in late September, there is a very enjoyable local championship in extreme and other sports, followed by special entertainment events (called Rozariada).Family Grljusic runs a rural inn in a village of Gurića Selo, a small place located high in the hills above Orebić. They established a climbing venue, Hrid, next to the village. The site offers seven climbing routes, and they will be adding more. Experienced climbers can try it themselves, while beginners can learn the basics of rock climbing accompanied with a professional guide. Getting there. Catch a bus from Dubrovnik (2 hours 30 min) or go by hire car or taxi. If you are arriving from the direction of Split take the ferry from Ploce which takes you to Trpanj from where it is a short drive across the peninsular to Orebic.
