This is a very special 200 year old stone villa originally built for holidays and summer relaxation. The old walls are almost one metre thick and ensure a cool interior in the summer. The villa has recently been renovated to provide luxurious accommodation, recalling the opulence and comfort demanded by nobility and the rich merchants of ancient Dubrovnik.
Works of art are scattered throughout the villa, and modern Italian designers are represented in the Italian-made country kitchen and other furniture. The villa abounds in marble tiles, oak parquet flooring and all mod cons, such as the fully equipped study with computer and WiFi.
The décor reflects Venetian influence, with pale creams and warm pinks on the walls. The lovely, romantic garden has great views from the terrace, and is the perfect place to enjoy a candle-lit dinner. To cool down, use the outdoor Jacuzzi among the palm trees. Or walk over in a swim suit and plunge into the sea just five metres away.
From the villa and the garden there are views of the sea and the nearby islands. Restaurants, cafes and shops are a few minutes' walk away.
The villa is accessed from the end of a quayside promenade, through a pillared covered porch and up a couple of steps.
The ground floor comprises of the sitting room with a dining area, kitchen/diner, a double bedroom with a great sea view, bathroom and well-equipped study.
The sitting room has a beamed ceiling, stone tiled floor and a corner fireplace, and is dominated by a modern red leather Italian design L-shaped sofa which can seat six comfortably. There are additional chairs scattered around the room.
A satellite TV, DVD player and audio system are in this room, which is enhanced by original Italian and Croatian paintings, mirrors and atmospheric lighting.
A doorway opens out onto the private Mediterranean garden full of palm trees and scented herbs.
To one side of the sitting area is a modern dining table with six dining chairs.
The kitchen has Italian designed antique style units with stone tops, and a stone sink, as well as a cooking range with an electric oven and a gas and electric hob. In addition, it is equipped with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, and there is a table for six. All the cooking utensils, plates, cutlery and glassware are new and good quality. The villa also has a washing machine.
The master bedroom and the other double bedroom are on the first floor and have great sea views.
The master bedroom has a large double bed with a luxurious headboard and a new mattress, old chests of drawers, bookshelves, extra seating, beamed ceilings, mature old oak parquet flooring and satellite TV.
This bedroom also has a marble ensuite bathroom, a spacious dressing room, and is air conditioned.
The other first floor bedroom also has a comfortable double bed with a new mattress, marble en-suite shower, beamed ceiling, oak parquet floor, air conditioning and a satellite TV.
All three bedrooms in the villa have great sea views. There is plenty of wardrobe space and luxurious bed linen and plenty of towels are provided.
The garden is mature, planted with tall palm trees, scented herbs and shrubs, and flowers. On the garden terrace there is an outdoor dining table and a BBQ.
Sun beds are provided for sheltered sunbathing in the garden or out on the villa's private 30 metre wide stone dock which is only five metres away, and where a boat can be moored.
If you wish to cool down in privacy, there is an outdoor Jacuzzi in the garden. There is also a boules playground, a traditional Dubrovnik pastime, in the garden.
