This charming villa is on the outskirts of the village of Liznjan close to the sea. Farm tracks lead down to the unspoilt coastline. Inside the villa is stylishly furnished with French doors leading onto a large shaded terrace that looks out over the private swimming pool and garden; ideal for dining al fresco. Upstairs all the bedrooms have French doors that lead onto a large open terrace that looks out onto the countryside and the Adriatic sea.

The villa has been recently built but using natural stone and in traditional style combining the facilities and open plan design of a modern house with the charm and character of a traditional Istrian stone house. This is one of the finest new build stone houses we have seen; the build quality and attention to detail are outstanding. Local restaurants and shops are within walking distance. There are tennis courts a few hundred metres way and bicycle hire can be arranged.

A beautiful place
Villa Marlera is very nice, beautiful place!

About location:

Very quiet, the right place for us. Three good restaurants in the village, little supermarkets ,a good butcher and wonderful lonely
beaches, because we were there after the season. If you want more Action: Medulin is nearby and in a short time we were in Pula.

Lovely, stylish, clean and comfortable house ...
Lovely, stylish, clean and comfortable house, built in local stone, with a sun trap garden and private pool. Plenty of seating everywhere. Delightful quiet village setting. Decent local cuisine and friendly courteous landlords.

About location:

Shops and restaurants within easy driving distance. Istria is a beautiful area with numerous places of interest, both inland and on the unspoilt coast. Conveniently close to Pula airport. Highly recommended.

Villa Marlera - such nice memories of our relaxing holiday in Istria.
My wife and I really enjoyed our time at Villa Marlera which has wonderful accommodation and is extremely comfortable. It is furnished to a very high standard and the stone dining tables (inside and out) are really smart and cool (literally) features.

The secluded garden, with brick built barbecue and generous size swimming pool, is a fantastic place to relax and get away from it all. It is a natural sun trap. The balconies offer nice views over the surrounding countryside and the seaside is within walking distance.

There are local restaurants close by and the food is amazing, cheap and the proportions are really generous.

A delightful well appointed villa ...
A delightful well appointed villa with nice garden and pool. Easy walking distance to small supermarkets, tourist info and a restaurant. A few niggles but nothing less than expected.

About location:

Lots of choice for short drives to coast where many areas for sea access - although all is rocky, no sand. Pula and especially Rovinj worth visits for culture, beauty and restaurants.

Villa was very comfortable ... Lovely location
Villa was very comfortable with air conditioning in two of the three bedrooms. Nice pool and gardens and covered eating area was much appreciated when weather was very hot. Kitchen well equipped.

About location:

Lovely location. Walk to beach was a little further than indicated in description. Very peaceful. Local restaurant opposite school was excellent - very reasonable and friendly staff.

A beautiful house with lovely gardens and pool
This was my first visit to Croatia and my friends and I struck lucky with Villa Marlera, a beautifully equipped house with delightful private gardens and pool from where we could explore the beautiful coastline, just a short stroll from the front door. The pretty village provided everything we needed including good local wine and great seafood, all at reasonable prices. We headed off further afield to the wonderful Roman town of Pula with its exquisite and impressive amphitheatre. Hilltop towns were another extraordinary day out, winding up through the slopes and valleys, happy to return to the poolside and a relaxing BBQ. Whilst we did a lot of chilling out at the house, we managed a cycle ride and an expedition to the beach for a drawing class organised by one of our party. A wonderfully relaxing holiday at Villa Marlera where everything works and it's easy to just hang out if you want, or head off for a spot of activity when you're feeling energetic. I recommend it to all.

Lovely Villa - charming and well maintained. Visited for forth time.
Visited Villa Marlera Summer 2015 (for the fourth time ) It was just as charming and well maintained as before. We had great weather and swam in the pool and in the sea - a 15 minute walk through country lanes. The coastal paths are lovely - look out for figs to pick near the harbour. Local restaurants are a short walk away and the wine is superb especially Malvasia. Pula , Porec and Rovinj offer excellent sightseeing and souvenir opportunities. I always stock up with truffles when I visit.

The Villa was perfect for our family.
I just wanted to say thank you and to let you know we had a wonderful stay in the villa. The lady who met us couldn't have been more helpful, sorting the extra bedding we required, and organising us a car for the week. It was boiling hot, perfect for pool and beach, we did lots of exploring of the local area, and loved it. The Villa was very comfortable and perfect for our family.
I hope to visit Croatia again very soon.

Perfect stay in this luxury villa
Looking at these photos brings back such warm memories of my holiday here with family friends. We had such a fantastic and sunny week here, I especially enjoyed chilling by the private pool as it was so quiet and serene. Having a BBQ in the garden and a fully-equipped kitchen was handy and it was a joy to sit down for dinner at the outside dining table. If you don't feel like cooking though, there are plenty of friendly eateries nearby serving generous yummy portions and tearing yourself away from the gorgeous villa is worth it as the surrounding area is beautiful, with just a short walk to the beach which has the most crystal clear water you've ever seen. It doesn't take long to get to Rovinj either which is a treat - I'd thoroughly recommend going for a ride in a speed boat round the island and a trip up the tower for great views of the city.
The villa itself is a good size and kept to a high standard, it's safe to say I have no complaints and will definitely be booking again for this summer. It's even an advantage that it is family-run because the level of care you get is far superior to a corporate service.

Lovely holiday. We had a really great time and the villa is like home from home.
A group of us (8) mix of family (brothers and sisters) and friends went to Villa Marlera in June 2015. We had a really great time and the villa is like home from home. Even with a group of 8 of us there was enough space both inside and outside as the villa has its own pool and BBQ area. The location is rural yet close to all amenities located in a really pretty village. We had an amazing day trip to Rovinj and took a speedboat to an excellent seafood restaurant, which was a once in a lifetime experience. We went to Pula, which is such an amazing town with so much history and a Roman amphitheatre. Some days we just chilled out by the pool or went for walks along the coast to see the pristine beaches. It was great to leave our busy lives behind and stay in such an amazing villa, in an area that allowed us to combine a bit of everything - great food, history, sun, relaxation and activities. We highly recommend this villa and Istria. We will return soon.

Liznjan is located at the southern end of the Istrian peninsula about 15 minutes drive from Pula and Pula airport. Liznjan is a charming agricultural and fishing village about one kilometre from the coast. The village has several small shops providing a wide range of groceries as well as fresh bread and vegetables. There are several restaurants and cafe/bar. The tourist trade is restricted mainly to bed and breakfast and private apartments rental. The neighbouring village of Medulin (less than 2 kilometres distant) has a much more extensive tourist trade with several hotels and a wider range of shops, bars and restaurants. A number of activities are available locally including tennis and riding. There are well market cycle routes and some delightful country and coastal footpaths.
There are scuba diving schools in Pula and Medulin.Nearby Pula has a summer film festival and regular concerts (pop and classical) in the atmospheric Roman arena in Pula. Nightclubs can be found in the neighbouring village of Medulin and in Pula.

Eating out
Local restaurants in Liznjan and Medulin offer a varied menu including excellent seafood whilst in Pula there are several restaurants offering first class cuisine and fine wines.
Beach in the village of Liznjan
Beaches
There are many delightful spots to swim around Liznjan Bay. In the bay below the village there is a popular swimming area for families with children as it has sheltered shallow water and a sandy bottom. A short walk or drive around the bay will bring you to many other swimming areas; one with a grove of pine trees providing shade from the midday sun and another with an ancient stone quay offering a good spot for jumping and diving into the water. Other stretches of coastline that can be reached only by farm tracks (we will give you directions) will take you to more secluded shingle bays with crystal clear water which are perfect for relaxing, swimming and snorkelling. The small island of Levan which is just a few hundred metres offshore has a wonderful golden sandy beach and a couple of beach bar/restaurants serving drinks and freshly grilled fish and meat; a taxi boat can take you from the mainland to the beach. In nearby Medulin there is a sheltered sandy bay with very shallow water that is ideal for young children. The rocky promontory of Rt Kamenjak (the tip of Istria is a national park and offers a great choice of beaches.
