We had fantastic holidays in Croatia and enjoyed Fisherman‘s Cottage thoroughly. The location was perfect for restful and sunny holidays and we loved everything. The owner was a perfect host. Thank you very much for everything - especially also for organizing the transfer which also worked perfectly (the agency even phoned to tell us that the driver would be 10 minutes late - we have never had such a good customer service). Thank you also for being so patient during the booking process and answering all my questions thoroughly. When we will visit Croatia again in the future, we will be happy to contact you again (and we will recommend you to all our friends).

As good a villa as we have ever rented
The first thing to grab you about this property is not the location, amenities or accommodation, but the service from the owner. From the welcome on our arrival, the lift to the bigger supermarket to stock up on food, the information on the island, where to eat, what to see, where to go, right through to our departure, leaving our luggage at his own house and even a lift to the airport! It was like a personal hotel! The accommodation is perfect for 4, with enough room, good air conditioning, a huge barbecue, bikes included, and a short walk to the beach and the town. Plenty of places to eat and drink and good trips from the marina. If there was one small criticism (from teenagers!) it's that the pool is fairly small but that does not detract from a perfect holiday spot.

On the southern side of the island of Brac, Bol has examples of 15th and 17th century architecture but is best known for its famous beach, Zlatni Rat, or Golden Horn, a shingle spit stretching out over 600 metres into the sea. A focal point for water sports, Bol offers opportunities for scuba diving, wind surfing,. A delightful promenade shaded by pine trees runs from Bol town to the Golden Horn beachBol is a lively tourist centre with a charming old town around the harbour. Bol is arguably the most beautiful town on the magical island of Brac. Stone cottages, village squares and palazzos surround the harbour and a small marina. Further along the promenade world class new villas nestle close to one of the most famous beaches in the world, Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn). Bol has many other beaches and a very vibrant day and night life. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the harbour and can be found in the narrow streets of the old town. In summer, there are art shows, concerts, theatres and sporting events, as well as discos and nightclubs. Bol is ideal for sporty types and you can play mini football, volleyball, basketball, hire bikes, go hiking and free climbing. Bol is famous for water sports like scuba diving and windsurfing , paragliding, wake boarding and being towed behind speedboats on inflatable donuts and bananas and much more. It is a windsurfing paradise. For the fittest, there is a trip up the mountain Vidova Gora to visit the monastery and the Dragon's cave.

Island of Brac

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and take the regular ferry crossings from Split ferry port to Supetar on Brac. The ferry port is a 25 minute drive from Split Airport. The ferry (car or foot passenger) takes 45 minutes and there are regular crossings during the summer. A bus service from Split Airport to the ferry port in Split is also available.

The ferry timetable for the Jadrolinija line from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac can be found on the Jadrolinija website. Cars can be hired at Split Airport. They can also be hired on arrival at Supetar from local firm MB Renta on the harbour front. Scooters and bicycles can also be rented. The local bus company, Autotrans runs buses several times a day between the principal towns on the island. Timetables can be found on the Autotrans website.

There is also a regular car ferry service from Makarska on the mainland directly to Sumartin at the south east end of the island (see Jadrolinija website for sailing schedule and prices). This crossing is convenient if arriving from the direction of Dubrovnik. There is also a passenger ferry service to Brac running four days a week from Split directly to the town of Milna. Details also on the Jadrolinija website.

Brac has its own small airport near the town of Bol. Light aircraft can fly into this airport and there are connections from Split Airport. Information on the Brac airport website.

If travelling to Brac from the Dubrovnik direction it is preferable to take the ferry crossing from Makarska to Sumartin. The service is less frequent than the Split/Supetar crossing and it is essential to check the timetable on the Jadrolinija website.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 20 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split.
