OVERVIEW

Villa Elisa is a beautiful four bedroom villa (157 square metres) in Hvar town on Hvar island, renown as one of the ten top islands in the world and officially the sunniest place in Croatia.  There are more than 300 seriously sunny days in a year. The island is so unspoilt, still mainly covered with lavender and vineyards, sandy beaches, caves to explore, amazing coves. Hvar town is romantic and has a beautiful town square with cafes and restaurants, the oldest theatre in Europe, old city walls. Other towns and villages on Hvar are equally attractive. This is the place for wild swimming, exploring history and countryside, day trips to islands Brac and Vis, lazing all day on the beach with a lovely beach bar. You can enjoy water sports, snorkelling, windsurfing, paragliding, climbing, hiking and cave exploring. The night life is very vibrant too. More superb restaurants are located on the nearby Pakleni islands, which you can reach by a small ferry. Swimming is also great there.

Villa Elisa is detached and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a private pool and garden with a barbecue and outdoor dining table. A coastal promenade takes you to the Old town centre in 10-15 minutes. It is a lovely walk. Larger groups are welcome as up to 32 people can stay in all four villas together.

Villa Elisa - Couldn't fault our holiday we will be back
The villa was very nice , a lot nicer than photos! Very clean, pool cleaned every day, well equipped with comfy beds. Great
location near right next to sea and shop. Lovely attentive hotel staff looked after us as did our booking agent Croatia Villas who also arranged a 1st class transfer taxi both ways. Couldn't fault our holiday we will be back xx

Hvar island

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and connect by ferry from Split ferry port to either Stari Grad (car ferry) or Hvar town (passenger ferry).

The car ferry (Jadrolinja line 635) is a two hour crossing and runs seven times a day in peak season. The last crossing from Split is at 8.30pm although in July and August there is also a 1.30am crossing.   The cost for a car and four adult passengers will be around €65 each way. The fast passenger only catamaran services takes approximatley 55 minutes and arrives directly on the Riva in Hvar town.  There are regular catamaran services provided by Jadrolinija and Kapetan Luka. Refer to their websites for timetables. Tickets on the Kapetan Luka fast catamaran will be around €13.50 a head one way but are cheaper with Jadrolinija.

Another option is to fly to Dubrovnik. From Dubrovnik Airport to Drvenik on the coast road is 145km (two hours 20 minutes drive) and from here there is a ferry to Sucuraj at the east end of Hvar island. The crossing is 35 minutes and the ferry runs 11 times a day with the earliest departure from Drvenik at 5.45am and the last at 10.45pm (Jadrolinija line 632). However we would warn travellers that the 75km road up the island to Hvar town is very narrow and bendy; a slow route and although scenic a difficult drive.

There is a daily crossing to the pretty harbour town of Jelsa on the north coast of Hvar island. This crossing (line 9603 with Jadrolinija) runs once a day leaving Split in the afternoon and stopping at Bol on Brac island en route. The ferry back from Jelsa to Split departs early in the morning so can provide a day trip from Hvar island to Split or for a day on the Golden Horn beach in Bol on Brac island.   A day trip from Hvar to Korcula town is possible on the Kapetan Luka catamaran service which departs daily in the morning and returns late afternoon. Expect to pay around €30 return.

Croatian Villa Holidays can organize private taxi boat transfers from the quay near Split airport to Hvar.  Prices will depend on date, time and the numbers in your party. Crossing time generally about 50 minutes to one hour.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 25 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split although you should allow longer in mid summer.

Dubrovnik Airport

Dubrovnik Airport is located near the town of Cavtat 19km to the south of Dubrovnik. There are direct flights to Dubrovnik from most European countries and from Philadelphia in the USA.

There are bus and taxi services into Dubrovnik centre. A taxi transfer can be expected to cost around 35 to 40 euro one way depending on the time of day and the season and a minibus around 50-60 euros.   A shuttle bus service from the airport to Dubrovnik is 7.5 euro per person each way.

Croatian Villa Holidays can arrange taxi transfers directly to your villa.
