This ancient traditional villa is 300 years old and is one of several dwellings gathered around a stone courtyard with an archway entrance. It is packed full of irresistible charm and this authentic accommodation is one of a kind being so close to the crystal sea and beaches. The renovation of Villa Fratella began in the year 2002. Many of the original features have been restored bringing to life the traditional features and feel of this sweet villa located a few metres from the beach.

Villa Fratella - near Makarska

Villa Fratella is spread over three floors: the ground floor-tavern, first and second floor.

Ground floor

Entering the villa from the old stone court yard entrance leads through to the yard into the ground floor of Villa Fratella. On the ground floor is a tavern packed full of Baroque details for you to discover. In the tavern there is a fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrigerator, freezer, ice maker and centennial sink. There is also a wine storage room with dining table and chairs and a living area with antique furniture. The tavern is fully air-conditioned and equipped with under floor heating, wireless internet access, HiFi system and LCD satellite TV.

First floor

A baroque staircase leads up to the first floor of Villa Fratella. On this floor is a second fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrigerator freezer, kettle toaster, microwave, oven, dishwasher, juice maker, blender and coffee maker. To the side of the kitchen is a dining table and through the original arch is the living room. The living room has comfortable sofas, satellite TV and a DVD player. Also on this floor is a modern shower room designed in the baroque style with toilet, shower and hand basin. The living room door leads outside to a magnificent stone terrace with stunning views of the old mill.

Second floor

The living room stairs lead up to the second floor where there are two bedrooms, one shower room and a WC with washing machine and dryer. One bedroom has a king-sized double and the other has two single beds.

In the courtyard, which shared with the adjoining properties, the villa has its own area with a dining table and chairs set to enjoy al fresco eating and drinking. You will also see three old mills and a stone water tank which are all culturally protected monuments. On the beach there are chairs and sun loungers and fishing boats for those who want to discover the joys of fishing.

We absolutely loved Villa Fratella, the neighbourhood, and the area! It was fantastic.
I think the most impressive point was the personal attention we received from the couple that met us upon arrival. They were so nice and helpful. Plus their relatives that lived next door were always happy to answer our questions. We felt so comfortable there. My wife fell in love with the villa and how nicely it was decorated.

The one local restaurant right next to our house was terrific and by the second day we seemed to have established ourselves as regulars with our "usual" table right on the beach!

We have nothing even slightly negative to report and look forward to returning there in the future.

Lovely character property, perfect location
This is a very well equipped, quirky accommodation situated 10 metres from the beach where you have your own wooden loungers and table. There are further chairs and cushions in the house. It sits withing the courtyard of an old mill meaning you dont have sea views. Although there are two bedrooms, the accommodation is more suitable for a family rather than two couples due to lack of wardrobe space in the second bedroom. This didn't affect us as it was just the two of us. That said the living space is very large, arranged on 3 floors. We didnt use the lower floor - or tavern which would be great for a social gathering as it combines a dining room, sitting room and kitchen all in one. The bathrooms / showers are of a very good standard, and the free wifi works well. The main living space is on the middle floor where you also have lounge, dining area and kitchen, all very comfortable. It feels like a home rather than rented accommodation (in a good way). The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of glasses, crockery and cutlery. There is also an espresso coffee maker which is nice. Downstairs there's a very good ice maker which is perfect for taking an ice bucket (also supplied) onto the beach to keep your water (or wine!) chilled. It would have been useful to have an information pack provided with local information (where to eat, transportation, shops, opening times, local contact details etc), but we managed without. Overall, quality, sizeable accommodation perfect for a family in a truly idyllic location.
