What we say

Rustic stunning stone villa near the beach, fabulous restaurants and amazing sea view, adorable, near Dubrovnik. Top destination for foodies and those that want to visit Cavtat and Mostar, Mljet national park or take a fabulous boat trip for the Elafiti Islands. We really recommended to visit during the Kino Okus food cinema festival usually in early September.

Villa Katarina is situated within the ancient walls of Mali Ston. Unusually for a town house of this type, it is detached and stands within its own plot with a small terrace/garden area around it. Mali Ston is a picturesque fortified medieval town just 40 minutes drive from Dubrovnik and less than an hour from Dubrovnik airport. Villa Katarina is a listed building that has been sensitively renovated. It is now a luxury house that retains its original character. The area of Mali Ston within the town walls is arranged on terraces with pedestrian passageways between them.

Villa Katarina has extensive views over the harbour and bay from the front windows and from the back looks out towards the five-towered castle that stands above the town. The villa is a one minute walk to the beach and the water front restaurants around the harbour. The villa sleeps up to four people in a spacious double bedroom and a living room with comfortable daybeds and sofas. The villa is fully air-conditioned and has heating for the winter months.

Villa Katarina - Mali Ston

The villa is built on three floors and has both an internal and external staircase to each floor.

Ground Floor

On the ground floor there is a kitchen and dining area as well as a shower room with shower, WC, hand basin and utility area. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, cafetiere, toaster and electric kettle and has an aircon unit. A washing machine is in the downstairs utility area.

First Floor

The first floor is arranged as a living room but is furnished so that it can also sleep two people. The living room is equipped with wide screen TV and DVD player and looks out over the sea.

Top Floor

The top floor has a large double bedroom and an en-suite shower room. The room is air conditioned. With windows on three sides, it has wonderful views over the harbour and sheltered bay of Mali Ston, as well as views from the back towards the impressive Koruna castle that stands above the town. The villa is finished to the highest standard throughout.

The terrace area at ground floor level is laid out with an outdoor dining area.

The most wonderful holiday in the most perfect place
Mali Ston is the most enchanting, ancient, village with a castle and a fortified wall running across the hill to Ston. Villa Katarina is a beautiful old house in the village - just below the castle and at the start of the fortified wall which runs across the hill to Ston. It has been superbly renovated, retaining its character but with all the modern comforts. We had arrived in the dark and opening the shutters in the morning to an amazing view of the sea (even better than in the photograph) is something we'll never forget. We were there with our two adult daughters (who were very comfortable on beds in the sitting room) but it would also be perfect for a romantic getaway. It's a few steps down to the sea for swimming and there are several excellent restaurants in the village. And there's so much to see and do nearby - for all ages. There are sandy beaches, and rocky outcrops for more adventurous swimming, vineyards, wonderful scenery, very pretty villages - and, of course, Dubrovnik. If you go there, be sure to go up in the funicular. We had lunch in the excellent restaurant at the top, gazing down on the historic city. We can't wait to go back to Villa Katarina! We were also lucky enough to visit Villa Mimosa, where our son and his family were staying. That too is beautiful.

Mali Ston

Dubrovnik Airport is 1 hour drive from Mali Ston. An alternative is to fly to Split Airport and drive the 3 hours down the spectacular coast road, or the slightly quicker route down the inland motorway, from Split to Mali Ston. For travellers with some time to spare, the Split option provides the chance to visit Diocletian’s Palace in the centre of Split or take a full day detour on the southerly route by crossing by ferry to Supetar on the island of Brac and returning from Sumartin at the southern end of the island to Makarska on the mainland.

Dubrovnik Airport

Dubrovnik Airport is located near the town of Cavtat 19km to the south of Dubrovnik. There are direct flights to Dubrovnik from most European countries and from Philadelphia in the USA.

There are bus and taxi services into Dubrovnik centre. A taxi transfer can be expected to cost around 35 to 40 euro one way depending on the time of day and the season and a minibus around 50-60 euros.   A shuttle bus service from the airport to Dubrovnik is 7.5 euro per person each way.

Croatian Villa Holidays can arrange taxi transfers directly to your villa.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 25 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split although you should allow longer in mid summer.
