Overview

A lovely small Istrian villa with pool, great charm and character. Recently renovated with sensitivity and taste, keeping its original rustic feel, with added warmth and comfort. The villa has 80 square meters and is located in a small village right in the centre of Istria, near Pazin which is the main town with shopping, cafes and restaurants. Around the house there are great vistas of rolling countryside planted with olive trees and vineyards. You are near some very nice restaurants, excellent wine producing vineyards, many quaint villages and only 30 minutes drive to the sea and beaches. The villa is arranged on two floors with the living area on the ground floor and two bedrooms on the first floor. The pool is positioned in what used to be an old cottage ruin that has been restored to a lovely enclosed terrace, with a window on the wall looking at valleys and fields. This villa is perfect for couples who want to spend their holiday in a character home, in tranquillity, but close to wonderful Mediterranean nature and Venetian style coastal towns and lovely beaches. Equally good for families with children. There is plenty of parking for several cars.

Accommodation

Ground floor

Through the solid wood double door you enter a cosy and bright open plan living area with a terracotta tiled floor and wood ceiling beams. An old country kitchen credenza holds your plates, glassware and cutlery, with plenty of storage space behind gingham curtains. There is a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a two ring electric hob, a microwave, toaster and a coffee machine. In the corner is an old farmhouse fireplace which is very attractive and can be used for grilling meat. The dining table can sit six people comfortably. Off this area is a shower room with a WC. There is also an air-conditioning unit on the ground floor.

First floor

A wooden staircase leads to the two upstairs bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single antique beds with new mattresses. The bedrooms have wood flooring and wooden beams, Mediterranean ochre walls and some exposed stone rustic elements, and are furnished with antique chests and wardrobes. They share a spacious shower room, with a second shower room provided downstairs. All bedlinen and towels are provided. There is also an air-conditioning unit on this floor.

Outside

A very charming and pleasant part of the villa is its large stone-paved patio with an exercise plunge pool which has massage jets. The pool, surface area 10 square metres, is situated inside the walls of a restored old cottage ruin, without a roof. The windows, set in the wall which surrounds the pool, offer lovely views of the surrounding countryside. By the pool there are sun loungers, a table with chairs and a stone table with a built in sink, where a portable barbecue is provided. A large parasol provides summer shade.

Airports in Italy

One option for getting to Istria, the north west end of the Croatian coastline, is to fly to Italy. This works particularly well if you are staying in northern Istria or in you want to combine your holiday with a short stay in Venice

Ryanair flies regularly to Trieste in north Italy from London-Stansted. There are also flights from Bari, Trapani, Alghero and Valencia. Trieste Airport is 1 hour drive from the Croatia/Slovenia border.

Slightly further away, but still within reach, there are regular flights by Ryanair from many European cities to Treviso (just north of Venice). EasyJet and British Airways and many other operators fly to Venice (Marco Polo Airport). A couple of days in Venice makes a great two centre holiday.
