OVERVIEW
In a romantic Mediterranean spot in a little town on the green island of Cres in Croatia, a small, pretty residence was built in the year 1890. Already then it was bordered by two ancient stone walls: one Roman and one Venetian. They are still there today and provide the house with extra special historic character. Over the years the house crumbled away forgotten, but was given a new lease of life in 2016 by its loving, present day owners. They have kept the faded façade of the villa, to show off its typical Mediterranean shabby chic look, and added an outdoor pool, bringing the interior into the 21st century. Now Villa Romance is a gorgeous holiday rental home with its own private pool, surrounded by pine trees, a natural garden and close to beach, which is only 250 metres away. The villa comprises 130 square metres of living space and 660 square metres of lush garden. It has free WiFi, air-conditioning and underfloor heating. The villa is pet friendly, family friendly, child friendly, romantic and has complete privacy. The villa is located in the town of Osor on the narrow neck of land where Cres island is separated from the island of Losinj by a narrow channel spanned by a bridge. Osor is one of the oldest Croatian towns sitting on the old Amber route, used by the ships which transported amber from the Baltic to Rome and later Venice. In the early 20th century Losinj became famous for its perfect mild climate and pure sea air, which was recognised as beneficial for people with lung problems. Special luxury clinics and spas were opened for Austrian and Italian royalty and wealthy people, who built splendid luxury villas in the town Mali Losinj, which became very fashionable. Cres is rugged and totally unspoilt and Losinj is greener and visitors are drawn there for its pretty towns and mild and healing climate.
ACCOMMODATION
Ground floor
Ground floor comprises an open plan hallway, kitchen and sitting room, bedroom, and a family shower room. The white and airy new kitchen with a terracotta floor looks out onto the Roman wall, how fantastic is that! The kitchen opens out directly onto the garden terrace and is equipped with a fridge, freezer, oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster and ice maker, all necessary cooking utensils and tableware. The dining area has a corner banquette with a bench and chairs and is for 8 people. Two children's feeding chairs are provided. The cosy and light sitting room has classic terracotta flooring, open wood fireplace, attractive sofa and armchairs and an exposed stone wall to show off the villa's rustic component. For entertainment you have a TV, DVD player, stereo, the game console PS4PRO and Ipod dock. The cool, air-conditioned, white downstairs bedroom has a double bed king size (160 by 200cm), fresh bed linen and towels. This bedroom uses the downstairs shower room, which is also a family bathroom, with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The villa provides a safe, an iron and ironing board. Villa Romance is a child friendly villa which provides two baby cots, feeding chairs and a stairgate.
First floor
From the pretty hallway wooden steps lead upstairs where there are two air-conditioned, fresh and calm looking bedrooms and a shared shower room. Both bedrooms have views of the sea. One bedroom has a king size bed 160 x 200cm, and the other has a super king size bed 180 x 200cm plus a sofa bed for 2 extra persons and a separate bed. Both bedrooms have wardrobes.
OUTSIDE
Family villa Romance has a private, walled garden and a lovely terrace, incorporating ancient paving stones. It has a private heated pool (size 8 x 3 metres and 1.5 metres deep). In addition there is an outdoor whirlpool and 6 quality sunbeds. Pool towels are provided and there is an outdoor pool shower. The garden has a brick built barbecue and a large outdoor dining table for 12 people. There are other seating spots and also a hammock in this pretty garden. Oleander trees, lilies and wonderful rose bushes add colour and romance to this authentic Mediterranean garden, and trees provide shade. There is an abundance of jasmine and rosemary in this seaside garden, just like in the olden days.
Kayaks are provided for the period of your stay (1 one seater and 4 two seater kayaks).
Car parking (free) is in the public car park immediately opposite the front gate to the villa.
