Villa California - Bol

Accommodation

The villa is approached through the coastal promenade lined with pine trees, with the pebbly beach directly below the path. It is surrounded by a wall on all sides. The villa is designed as two separate buildings which are linked by the pool and the sunbathing area. The whole complex represents one villa. The main building has a sitting room and living area which occupies the whole ground floor. On the top floor are two very spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and amazing sea views. One of the bedrooms has a gym. The second building is ideal for guests, having two luxury bedroom suites on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The whole impression of this villa is one of luxury, privacy and light and the location is impeccable. To cap it all, Bol is an exceptionally charming seaside town on the island of Brac, very famous for its windsurfing and all watersports, many beaches, wellness, restaurants, relaxed cafes, summer entertainments. Brach is a large island, visit its incredibly pretty villages such as Milna and Sumartin. Pop over to the gorgeous island of Hvar and the unforgettable Split and Trogir.

The wow factor of this room is its glass front façade providing a direct outlook to the sea and the glass wall at the back, from which you can see the pool and the second building. From the pool you can look through the whole of the front house and see the expanse of the sea. It is a unique view. The villa is positioned a few metres above the sea front promenade and has been cleverly designed so that a 2 metre high wall provides privacy from the promenade but allows a view from the terrace and living room above the wall to the sea.

MAIN VILLA - First floor

A wooden staircase leads to the first floor with two large en-suite bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size double bed, a large wardrobe, and a gym area .The second bedroom has a double bed and a large wardrobe. Each bedroom has a satellite TV. The bathrooms are stunning with top quality modern bathroom sanitary ware and Italian tiles. Plenty of towels are provided and changed every three days. Both bedrooms have access to a balcony and have great sea views.

GUEST VILLA

Two ground floor and two first floor bedroom suites have similar arrangements. Each space consists of its own sitting area and a smart mini kitchen with a small dining table. A large stylish bedroom in each suite is furnished with a double bed and wardrobe and has an en-suite shower room. The ground floor bedrooms open out directly onto the pool terrace and the first floor bedrooms open out onto the balcony.

Outside

A large mosaic tiled pool is positioned between the two buildings. The stone paved sunbathing terrace surrounds the pool and is provided with sunbeds and pool towels. In front of the villa within its enclosed garden is a terrace with an outdoor dining table and chairs. Immediately below the villa is the promenade which is lined with pine trees and provides a shady pedestrian route into the town of Bol in one direction and to the Golden Horn beach in the other direction. Additional Information

  • Pets are not admitted.
  • Baby cot and chair available on request.

We stayed in villa California with one other family, so we were 8. There was plenty of room for another family. The location is incredible. Walk across the street or down the promenade to the beaches. Or down the promenade a few minutes for restaurants. Easy access to the ferry if you want to go to the mainland and Dubrovnik for the day as we did. The inside/outside of the villa is super private. Great to be by the pool with the kids or in the back for long BBQ parties in to the night. You will love it. Nice villa, amazing Bol and Brac!!

On the southern side of the island of Brac, Bol has examples of 15th and 17th century architecture but is best known for its famous beach, Zlatni Rat, or Golden Horn, a shingle spit stretching out over 600 metres into the sea. A focal point for water sports, Bol offers opportunities for scuba diving, wind surfing,. A delightful promenade shaded by pine trees runs from Bol town to the Golden Horn beachBol is a lively tourist centre with a charming old town around the harbour. Bol is arguably the most beautiful town on the magical island of Brac. Stone cottages, village squares and palazzos surround the harbour and a small marina. Further along the promenade world class new villas nestle close to one of the most famous beaches in the world, Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn). Bol has many other beaches and a very vibrant day and night life. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the harbour and can be found in the narrow streets of the old town. In summer, there are art shows, concerts, theatres and sporting events, as well as discos and nightclubs. Bol is ideal for sporty types and you can play mini football, volleyball, basketball, hire bikes, go hiking and free climbing. Bol is famous for water sports like scuba diving and windsurfing , paragliding, wake boarding and being towed behind speedboats on inflatable donuts and bananas and much more. It is a windsurfing paradise. For the fittest, there is a trip up the mountain Vidova Gora to visit the monastery and the Dragon's cave.

Island of Brac

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and take the regular ferry crossings from Split ferry port to Supetar on Brac. The ferry port is a 25 minute drive from Split Airport. The ferry (car or foot passenger) takes 45 minutes and there are regular crossings during the summer. A bus service from Split Airport to the ferry port in Split is also available.

The ferry timetable for the Jadrolinija line from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac can be found on the Jadrolinija website. Cars can be hired at Split Airport. They can also be hired on arrival at Supetar from local firm MB Renta on the harbour front. Scooters and bicycles can also be rented. The local bus company, Autotrans runs buses several times a day between the principal towns on the island. Timetables can be found on the Autotrans website.

There is also a regular car ferry service from Makarska on the mainland directly to Sumartin at the south east end of the island (see Jadrolinija website for sailing schedule and prices). This crossing is convenient if arriving from the direction of Dubrovnik. There is also a passenger ferry service to Brac running four days a week from Split directly to the town of Milna. Details also on the Jadrolinija website.

Brac has its own small airport near the town of Bol. Light aircraft can fly into this airport and there are connections from Split Airport. Information on the Brac airport website.

If travelling to Brac from the Dubrovnik direction it is preferable to take the ferry crossing from Makarska to Sumartin. The service is less frequent than the Split/Supetar crossing and it is essential to check the timetable on the Jadrolinija website.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 20 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split.
