Villa Vicky in Milna, Brac Island

Accommodation

A warm Mediterranean feel of the ground floor living area is emphasised by a wooden floor, terracotta and stone walls, wooden beams and large blue sofa and armchairs. The open-plan kitchen-dining area is at the other end of this space, with a soft-blue kitchen, a breakfast bar and a large table that can seat 8-10 persons. The doors open out from the kitchen onto a charming stone paved garden, with a shaded dining terrace and a purple bougainvillea, providing a sunny outdoors/indoors easy summer atmosphere. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a ceramic hob, oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, coffee filter machine and a microwave oven, with good kitchen utensils, plates and glasses. On the ground floor is an additional WC/cloakroom, which contains a washing machine. The villa comes with a satellite TV and wireless Internet and a Hi-fi. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board and a washing machine are also provided.

First floor

On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms. Wooden floors and white walls are in keeping with the tasteful simplicity of the house decor. One bedroom has a large double bed and wardrobe made of quality wood, whilst the second bedroom comes with elegant wrought iron twin beds. Bed linen is of excellent quality and plenty of towels are provided. The bedrooms share a nice bathroom with a large bath. From this floor there are lovely sea views.

Second floor

On the second floor, in the attic space with wooden beams, there is a main double bedroom furnished in traditional country style in cream colours, with an additional sofa bed and an en-suite shower. This room opens out on its own secluded terrace with a fine view of the sea and the entire bay.

Outside

Pool

An outdoor, private oval shaped pool, tiled in blue mosaic with an outside shower is in the garden. Plenty of sun loungers are provided for the guests. The area of the pool is 24 square metres.

Garden

The villa garden is surrounded by marvelous traditionally built stone walls. An outside stone staircase with wrought iron railings is a stunning decorative feature of the villa. There is a large stone paved, partialy covered garden terrace with tables and chairs, an outdoor barbecue and plenty of garden furniture. The garden is full of lovely plants, lavender, rosemary, bougainvillea, geraniums and lemon trees.

Private beach plot

The villa has the use of a private seafront plot of land with its own beach which is 2km away from the villa and can only be reached by boat. A boat transfer to the beach and collection from the beach at a time of your choice can be provided for a charge of approximately 100 euros.  This private beach is surrounded by the shade cover and the smell of pine trees. The beach is a spectacular blend of turquoise and aquamarine blue in a bay frequently visited by the yachting and boating community. On the beach there is decking for sun loungers and a covered eating/sitting area. There is also a simple hammock, easy access in to the sea from the beach and a small rubber dinghy in which you can paddle to adjoining bays.

Reviews

Lovely traditional villa with excellent outside space.

About location:

Really central to everything in Milna. A few minute walk from the marina , shops and restaurants. Beautiful restaurant and lots to chose from. Enjoyed walking round to really pretty bays to swim in the sea.

About Croatian Villa Holidays:

Very responsive and great service. In particular went out of their way to help find a taxi boat for us.

In a word superb!
In a word superb! We wanted something special for a truly relaxing break and Villa Vicky delivered. The villa is charming and very
clean. The outside areas are beautifully maintained and cared for with everything one needs. It really is a little oasis: secluded,
beautiful and very quiet (between the passionate bell ringing sessions from the local church tower) The small port of Milna is a
delight in a non-commercial non-nightclub way. Only 3 mins from the villa you have a beautiful little marina port with about 10
restaurants and some bars most of which, if not on the waterfront have pretty views of the boats and water. Ivan is a perfect host,
ready to help but not intrusive; all his recommendations were very good. We hired a boat one day and Ivan kindly escorted us to the
family's private land which sits at the head of an inlet where we enjoyed a lovely day sunbathing and swimming in clear waters.
We are a family of 4, my wife and I and our son and daughter had a lovely room each although the Villa could comfortably
accommodate 6. Conie, a small sociable tortoise, charmed us all.
I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone who wants a quality break. Treat yourselves - we will again!

Open the entrance gate and you feel you're in paradise.
Getting to the villa involves a bit of a trek up alleys and steps in the old and beautiful town of Milna. Open the entrance gate and you feel you're in paradise.
The house is a few centuries old and has all the character of age, with all the amenities you could wish for. It is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need.
There's a beautiful shaded outdoor eating area by the barbecue; a garden area behind the house with a trampoline, table tennis, and a playhouse for the kids.
There's even a pet tortoise in the garden my grandson fell in love with.
If you're at all like us you'll spend happy days by the pool, venturing out occasionally for boat trips from the harbour or a lazy drink by the quayside as the sun goes down.

The staff in the villa were friendly and helpful and we felt very well looked after.
The one thing you do need to bear in mind is that it's really only a place for the able bodied. You can only park your car ten minutes walk from the property; you have to climb steps and steep paths to get to it; and even more steps once you get there, as its many levels are part of its character and charm.
We were very sad to leave. But hope one day to be returning...

Would I recommend this vacation rental to my best friend? Yes.

About location:

Milna is a beautiful old town with lots of alleyways to explore and restaurants that serve delicious food. Especially seafood....

Brac Island

Brac is the most accessible of the larger Dalmatian islands and there are regular and frequent ferry crossings which makes getting to Brac very straightforward.

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and take the regular ferry crossings from Split ferry port to Supetar on Brac. The ferry port is a 30 minute drive from Split Airport but allow longer in peak periods.

Getting from the airport to the ferry port

You can hire a car at the airport and take it over on the ferry. One advantage of this is that you don't have to manhandle your luggage on to the ferry as a foot passenger.  Alternatively take a taxi to the ferry port.  The approximate cost is 35-40 euro depending on time of travel and 40-50 euro for an 8 seater minibus. There are several bus services that run from the airport terminal to Split main bus station which is next to the ferry port. These leave from right outside the terminal building and include a shuttle service run by Croatia Airlines. Typical cost of a one way bus ticket is around 5.50 euro per person. Local bus service 38 stops on the main road outside the airport and is a 50 minute journey into the centre of Split  It is about half the price of the shuttle services but does not take you as close to the ferry port and is much slower.

Ferries to Brac

The ferry from Split to Brac (car or foot passenger) takes 50 minutes and there are regular crossings during the summer (typically every 90 minutes). The cost of a one way ticket for a car and four adult passengers will be about €40.

The ferry timetable for the Jadrolinija line from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac can be found on the Jadrolinija website.

There is also a regular car ferry service from Makarska on the mainland directly to Sumartin at the south east end of the island (see Jadrolinija website line 638 for sailing schedule and prices). This crossing is convenient if arriving from the direction of Dubrovnik however the service runs only five times a day in peak season and we recommend booking in advance on this line.

There is a fast catamaran ferry service from Milna on Brac to Split on Wednesdays. It departs from Milna  in the morning and returns late afternoon so is convenient for a day trip to Split. Both Jadrolinija (line 9602) and Kapetan Luka run this service. The crossing is 30 minutes. Details also on the respective websites. Around €6.60 with Kapetan Luka and less with Jadrolinija.

Also convenient for day trips to Split is the daily service that departs from Bol in the early morning and returns late afternoon. Line 9603 on the Jadrolinija website. The crossing is one hour 10 minutes.

Transfer by private taxi boat

Private taxi boat transfers from the quay near Split airport to Brac island can be arranged.  Prices will depend on your destination on Brac, the numbers in your party and the time of travel but will typically be in the region of 400-600 euro. Ask us for a quote. Crossing times from 35 to 50 minutes depending on your destination on Brac.

Brac airport ideal for private jets

Brac has its own small airport near the town of Bol. Light aircraft can fly into this airport and there are scheduled passenger flights from Split Airport. Zagreb and Graz in Austria. Information on the Brac airport website.

We can arrange car hire from Split Airport. We can also organize car hire on the island. Scooters and bicycles can also be rented. The local bus company, Arriva, runs buses several times a day between the principal towns on the island. Timetables can be found on the Arriva website.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 25 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split although you should allow longer in mid summer.
