Villa Vanda is an old, stone built house recently renovated into a stylish holiday home by the sea. Sleek white stone facade, so typical of the houses made from the famous Brac island stone, is timeless and at the same time modern, with large green-shuttered windows and balconies overlooking the pool. Interior of the house has been newly decorated. The wooden floors and beamed ceilings give the villa a cool look, but also echo the typical features of old island houses. The villa is located only 50 metres from the beach and has great sea views from the garden and the upper floor. Equally, you are just a few minute walk from the town centre and its shops and restaurants.

Sumartin is a fabulous fishing village with quaint cottages, luxury villas, famous bike trails and is an ecological paradise. This is an authentic, 300 year old fishing village settled on the east point of Brac island, where you can get a ferry to Makarska on the mainland. It has a pretty harbour and a village square with an old church, a Franciscan monastery and old stone fishermen's houses, a small supermarket and a village store. Nowadays restaurants offer traditional local fare of fresh fish, olive oil and good local wine, home-made pasta, the typical sustenance of the local people. At one end of Sumartin on Puntinak promontory there are some gorgeous and very luxurious villas right on the seashore. You can enjoy a very relaxed holiday with peaceful sandy and pebbly beaches on your doorstep. Sumartin offers some lively events such as the festival called The Lady of the Angels, on 2nd August with street food, singing and dancing.

Island of Brac

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and take the regular ferry crossings from Split ferry port to Supetar on Brac. The ferry port is a 25 minute drive from Split Airport. The ferry (car or foot passenger) takes 45 minutes and there are regular crossings during the summer. A bus service from Split Airport to the ferry port in Split is also available.

The ferry timetable for the Jadrolinija line from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac can be found on the Jadrolinija website. Cars can be hired at Split Airport. They can also be hired on arrival at Supetar from local firm MB Renta on the harbour front. Scooters and bicycles can also be rented. The local bus company, Autotrans runs buses several times a day between the principal towns on the island. Timetables can be found on the Autotrans website.

There is also a regular car ferry service from Makarska on the mainland directly to Sumartin at the south east end of the island (see Jadrolinija website for sailing schedule and prices). This crossing is convenient if arriving from the direction of Dubrovnik. There is also a passenger ferry service to Brac running four days a week from Split directly to the town of Milna. Details also on the Jadrolinija website.

Brac has its own small airport near the town of Bol. Light aircraft can fly into this airport and there are connections from Split Airport. Information on the Brac airport website.

If travelling to Brac from the Dubrovnik direction it is preferable to take the ferry crossing from Makarska to Sumartin. The service is less frequent than the Split/Supetar crossing and it is essential to check the timetable on the Jadrolinija website.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 20 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split.
