Private family villa with pool, Villa Aura is in a group of fifteen villas designed by a local architect in 2012 just above the harbour of the fishing village of Splitska, where fishing, wine and olive oil production have been a source of living for centuries. Modern tourists have discovered the island of Brac and its unbelievably unspoilt, authentic villages along the coast and on the hillsides. The breath taking scenery and wild, unpolluted beaches will please the young and the old, and the fresh, good local food is the epitome of healthy living. You will experience all that staying in the luxury, air-conditioned, family holiday home Aura with pool, equipped with modern conveniences.

Villa Aura is perfect for families and couples, as it is in a quiet setting with beautiful sea views and also offers so much in terms of interesting sightseeing and wild swimming. The village has a small supermarket and a few simple cafes and restaurants in the harbour. Supetar is just 6 km away and the ferry to Split operates every 90 minutes. As the short ferry ride takes only 50 minutes you will enjoy your daytrips to the mainland. Supetar is also good for supermarkets, shops, harbour restaurants and cafes with daily fresh food. It is a good place for water sports and nightlife too. Split, a UNESCO heritage city is brimming with culture and history. Don’t miss out to visit the Roman Diocletian's Palace, which is 1800 years old. Experience the charming Trogir, beautiful Primosten and elegant Sibenik near the Krka River Waterfalls National Park and the zip line in Omis, on the Cetina river gorge.

Remainingg on the island go to pretty Bol with its famous Golden Horn beach and the best windsurfing and water sports. Visit the charming Milna which also has a marina, or venture to the picture postcard town of Pucisca. After the daily excitement return to your welcoming villa and relax with your family and friends around the barbecue, taking in the fresh sea and pinewood air of Brac.

Splitska church
Small stone village with a sculpture of Hercules! Between Postira and Supetar, on the north shore of Brac lies the Splitska cove. In the nearby quarry, Rasohe, still stands a chiselled figure of Heracles - work of one of the Diocletian’s sculptors. The Romans used the white Brac stone to build the world famous Diocletian's palace in Split. Just 400 people live in Splitska, traditionally fishing, quarrying stone and making delicious wines and olive oils. The village is beautiful, peaceful and has plenty of very attractive beaches often with pine woods down to the shore providing delightful shade. Splitska itself is reached by winding down a pretty road from the main road above and feels a bit like a fairy tale village by the sea! Two very close and interesting places to visit are Skrip and Dol. Skrip is just under 10 minutes drive away on the hill above Splitska. Skrip is the oldest settlement on the island. It has a museum and the remnants of a castle and ancient city walls. Its well worth a visit to get a feel of the island's Illyrian and Roman past. Dol is a tiny village in an inland valley and renouned for its simple but charming restaurants serving food which has been sourced from local farms.

Island of Brac

The simplest connection to the island is to fly to Split and take the regular ferry crossings from Split ferry port to Supetar on Brac. The ferry port is a 25 minute drive from Split Airport. The ferry (car or foot passenger) takes 45 minutes and there are regular crossings during the summer. A bus service from Split Airport to the ferry port in Split is also available.

The ferry timetable for the Jadrolinija line from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac can be found on the Jadrolinija website. Cars can be hired at Split Airport. They can also be hired on arrival at Supetar from local firm MB Renta on the harbour front. Scooters and bicycles can also be rented. The local bus company, Autotrans runs buses several times a day between the principal towns on the island. Timetables can be found on the Autotrans website.

There is also a regular car ferry service from Makarska on the mainland directly to Sumartin at the south east end of the island (see Jadrolinija website for sailing schedule and prices). This crossing is convenient if arriving from the direction of Dubrovnik. There is also a passenger ferry service to Brac running four days a week from Split directly to the town of Milna. Details also on the Jadrolinija website.

Brac has its own small airport near the town of Bol. Light aircraft can fly into this airport and there are connections from Split Airport. Information on the Brac airport website.

If travelling to Brac from the Dubrovnik direction it is preferable to take the ferry crossing from Makarska to Sumartin. The service is less frequent than the Split/Supetar crossing and it is essential to check the timetable on the Jadrolinija website.

Split Airport

Split Airport is located to the west of Split close to the town of Trogir. It is 20 minutes drive from the airport to the ferry port in Split.
