The island of Pag can be reached by ferry from Prizna on the mainland and is also joined to the mainland by bridge in the direction of Zadar. The principal settlement on the island is the town of Pag which has historic origins having been built to protect the adjoining salt marches. Pag still has rich cultural traditions and is famous for lace making and cheese making. Pag cheese is known throughout Croatia.
Music Festivals. In recent year Pag island has become best known for its world-famous summer music beach festival in the village of Zrce (pronounce Zrche), near the town of Novalja. Young people flock to Zrce where the beach becomes the focal point of the festival throughout the summer.

Beaches, swimming and other activities.
There are an abundance of shingle and sandy beaches around the coastline of Pag many with spectacular views back towards the mainland or across other islands. Pag is a paradise for those who like swimming in the beautifully clear Adriatic sea. Waterskiing, wind surfing, scuba diving, cycling, rock climbing and walking are other activities available on the island.
